Truck Driver Training

Central Queensland certified driver training for all licence classes. We offer accredited truck driving courses to prepare drivers of all skill levels.

All heavy vehicle licensing requires the completion of a Heavy Vehicle Theory test directly with Qld Transport. You can see some practice questions here.

(LR) Light Rigid

Training can be provided for this licence class, however as it’s not highly sought after, you would need to provide a truck for this.

(HRB) Heavy Rigid B Condition licence (Automatic / Synchromesh)

This class is a great option for people that are wanting to get licenced a little faster & are not required to obtain the unconditional HR licence. ‘B’ condition meaning you’re only able to drive HR/MR/LR automatic or with a synchromesh transmission.

Training for this licence class is performed in a 2013 Volvo Tipper with an automatic transmission.

To be eligible for the B condition, you must have held a manual provisional licence or open car licence for a minimum of 2 years. If you complete this test, possessing an automatic car licence only you will only receive an HR automatic licence (HRA).

This test can be completed in half a day, with our licensing packages, which include:

  • 3 hours training
  • Practical test vehicle hire
  • Practical test booking fee

Upon completion, you can legally operate all HR, MR & LR trucks with synchromesh & automatic transmissions.

We have a  98% test pass rate with students completing this class.

(HR) Heavy Rigid Licence (Automatic / Synchromesh / Constant mesh transmissions*)

*Constant mesh Transmission also referred to as – Crash Box/Road Ranger/UD/Spicer & Mack.

This training is held in a 2012 Western Star with a Detroit DD15 560hp engine. Transmission is Eaton RTLO20918B. Obtaining your licence in this vehicle will give you an open HR licence allowing you to operate all HR – MR & LR vehicles with any transmission. If you currently hold a CA licence completing this licence will open your car licence to a manual.

To be eligible for this licence, you must have held a provisional licence or open car licence for a minimum of 2 years

Students average 6 – 8 lessons depending on the students’ ability and prior experience.

Training is available 7 days a week, from 6:00 am – 6:00 pm. (Larger block training is highly recommended e.g. two-hour lessons.)

(HC) Heavy Combination Open Licence

To be eligible for this licence, you must have held MR or HR licence for a minimum of 1 year.

This training is held in a 2012 Western Star with a Detroit DD15 560hp engine. Transmission is Eaton RTLO20918B & OPHEE trailer. Obtaining your licence in this vehicle will give you an open HC licence allowing you to operate all HC – HR – MR & LR vehicles with any transmission. If you currently hold a CA licence, HRA or HRB completing this licence will open your car licence to a manual. Student average in this vehicle is between 6 – 8 lessons. A vehicle can be hired for a practical test with TMR.

We recommend you do HR training first to become familiar with the Road Ranger transmission and vehicle characteristics before hooking up a trailer, to keep your costs down.
